The state of West Bengal is the rainiest pocket in East as well as Central India during the month of October as compared to the other parts. These rainfall activities occur on different counts Including retreating Monsoon conditions, Western disturbance and weather systems that form in the Bay of Bengal. The monthly mean rainfall for West Bengal in the month of October is 129 mm.
So far, rainfall for West Bengal has been quite deficient and the state has recorded only 16.6 mm against 67 mm until October 11.
One such system was the formation of cyclone Titli which has given record-breaking rainfall over many parts of Odisha as well as some parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh. In fact, some areas of West Bengal have also seen some rainfall activity.
Now a rainy spell is coming up for more parts of West Bengal as cyclone Titli which has become a depression now is expected to move towards west Bengal which will give rainfall activity over these areas.
Moreover, cities including Digha, Kolkata, Contai, Purulia and Parganas will see heavy rainfall during the next 24 hours.
rainfall intensity is expected to intensify by today evening and continue until tomorrow morning. Temperature wise also some relief is expected as the region sees its maximum in the thirties. Around October 14, weather will clear up with only light rainfall activity over these areas.
