Rain in Kolkata, Darjeeling, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Sambalpur and Jharsuguda likely

At present, an east-west trough is extending from Uttar Pradesh to Gangetic West Bengal across South Bihar and Jharkhand. In addition to this, a confluence zone has developed which is running from Gangetic West Bengal to Coastal Andhra Pradesh across Odisha.

In the wake of these weather systems, during the next 24 hours, rain and thundershowers accompanied with lightning strike, gusty winds and isolated hailstorm activity will occur in many parts of West Bengal and Odisha.  Some parts of Jharkhand will also get affected.

Odisha: Rain and thundershower activities with strong winds between 30-50 kmph will affect places like Angul, Balangir, Baleshwar, Bargarh, Baudh, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Debagarh, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajapur, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Kendujhar, Khordha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Puri, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Subarnapur and Sundargarh till March 6.

West Bengal: Moderate spells of rain and thundershower activities with strong winds of 30-50 kmph will affect Alipurduar, Bankura, Bardhaman, Birbhum, Dakshin Dinajpur, Darjeeling, Haora, Hugli, Jalpaiguri, Koch Bihar, Kolkata, Malda, Murshidabad, Nadia, North Twenty-Four Parganas, Paschim Midnapur, Purba Medinipur, Puruliya, South Twenty-Four Parganas and Uttar Dinajpur during the next 24 hours.

Jharkhand: Rains will now reduce over most parts of this state. However, isolated light rains over Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Deogarh, Bokaro and Dhanbad cannot be ruled out.
