The state of Tamil Nadu has been seeing good rains for the past day or two. In fact, some parts have seen rainfall in double digits as well due to which temperatures have also seen a fall. The last 24 hours were also rainy enough for the state with many parts seeing rainfall activities.
In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Paramathy 29 mm, Kodaikanal 11 mm, Coonoor 9 mm, Madurai 4 mm, Coimbatore 1 mm with traces of rainfall over Tondi, Atiramapattinam, and Salem.
These rainfall activities can be attributed to the presence of a cyclonic circulation is over the island nation of Sri Lanka and adjoining areas. Moreover, an upper air trough is extending from this system to South Konkan Coast across Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka Coast.
Due to presence of these systems, warm and moist air mass is affecting the state of Tamil Nadu and its adjoining areas.
Therefore, rain and thundershowers are expected over some parts of Tamil Nadu during the next 24 hours. Cities of Kodaikanal, Coonoor, Coimbatore, Tuticorin, Kanyakumari, Salem will be the ones seeing good rains.
Rainfall intensity is expected to witness an increase by next week wherein heavy showers will be observed over some parts. During that time, the city of Chennai will also see some rainfall activities.
