After remaining dry for the last 2-3 days, some light to moderate rains occurred over Kerala. Though the intensity of these rains was comparatively more over the south coastal station of the state in contrast with the coastal regions of North Kerala.
On and off showers have been battering the state of Kerala since November 19 with the intensity picking up the pace between November 20 and 21.
Within the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am as on Sunday, Punalur recorded 15 mm of rains, Thiruvananthapuram 13 mm, Valparai 1 mm, and Coonoor recorded 0.5 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, a low-pressure area is over southeast parts of Sri Lanka which will give moderate to heavy rains over Kerala for at least another 24 hours.

However, thereafter, this low-pressure area is likely to travel in a westerly direction. In the wake of this, the intensity of rains is likely to reduce as the low-pressure area will emerge in the southeast Arabian Sea.
But in spite of this westward movement, light to moderate rains will continue over many parts of Kerala as the trough will extend from the southeast Arabian Sea to southwest Bay of Bengal across Sri Lanka. Therefore, for the next 2-3 days, scattered light to moderate rains are expected to continue in Kerala but the intensity will reduce significantly. However, heavy to extremely heavy rains are not expected after 24 hours.
