The hills of North India i.e. Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have been receiving on and off rain and thundershower activities since past few days. During the last 24 hours also, few parts of Himachal and Uttarakhand received heavy rainfall activity.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday, Mussoorie recorded heavy rain to the tune of 60.5 mm, followed by Katra 56 mm, Srinagar 18 mm, Batote 15.6 mm, Manali 11.8 mm, Dharamshala 11 mm, Nahan 11.7 mm, Dehradun 8.8 mm, Una 8.4 mm, Mukteshwar 6.8 mm, Almora 6 mm, Pahalgam 5.6 mm, Gulmarg 2.6 mm, Solan 1.4 mm, Chamba 1 mm, Sundernagar and Bhaderwah 1.3 mm, Kupwara 1.6 mm.
At present, easterly winds are blowing over the Western Himalayas and the axis of Monsoon trough is also seen running via the Indo Gangetic Plains.
Therefore, now also we expect moderate showers with one or two heavy spells over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the next 2 -3days. Thereafter rain intensity will decrease but during these two to three days we expect water logging and landslides in parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal leading to disruption in normal day to day life.
Light to moderate rains are expected to increase as on Saturday and Sunday, few heavy spells are also possible. Popular destiny like Dharamshala, Shimla, Nainital, Mussoorie will receive moderate to heavy rains. Vaishno Devi will also receive few good spells of rains.
