Rain in Kashmir, Himachal, Uttarakhand; heatwave to abate

April 18, 2017 4:37 PM |

Rain in Jammu and Kashmir

After a brief period of dry and hot weather conditions, rain is inching closer to the hilly region of North India. This rain can be attributed to a feeble Western Disturbance that is likely to approach Jammu and Kashmir.

Scattered rain is expected to begin over the region of Jammu and Kashmir by 19 April and then gradually cover the areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Another active Western Disturbance is expected to approach the Western Himalayas. With this system, the intensity of rain will increase even more and will bring the much-needed relief from prevailing heatwave over the entire hilly states of India. Parts of Punjab will also get to experience rain and thundershower activities in the next 24 hours.

As per Skymet weather, by April 23, a Western Disturbance is likely to induce a cyclonic circulation over the Central parts of Pakistan, adjoining Punjab and North Rajasthan. Due to the formation of this system, scattered thundershower and dust storm activities will begin over the parts of Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan.

The intensity of rain and thundershower activities will increase further in the parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh between April 24 and 26. Due to these weather activities in the North India, heatwave conditions will abate these regions.
