Since past many days weather of Karnataka was almost dry. Presently, the state of Karnataka is running rain deficient. Moreover, several tehsils of the state are facing a drought-like situation. Sub-division wise, North Interior Karnataka is largely deficient by 65% and South Interior Karnataka is by 35%. Although, Coastal Karnataka is much better and is deficient by a figure of 22%.
Although Northeast Monsoon has commenced but it has only given moderate to heavy rains in Tamil Nadu and parts of Kerala.
Now a trough has formed from Southwest Bay of Bengal to Madhya Maharashtra across Kerala and Coastal Karnataka, therefore we expect the rains to increase over many districts of Coastal and South Interior Karnataka. However, weather of North Interior Karnataka will remain mainly dry although some very light rains may be experienced over this region at a few places. These rains will continue for the next 24 to 48 hours before, the trough becomes insignificant.
Therefore, there will be a significant increase in rain activities on the entire state. These, rains may bring down the rain deficiency over Coastal and South Interior Karnataka to some extent. But rain deficiency of North Interior Karnataka is only going to increase further.
