Rain in Kalahandi, Koraput during next 24 hours; to reduce thereafter

During the past 24 hours; showers of light to moderate intensity lashed the state of Odisha.

Rain activity recorded in a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday; Keonjhargarh 15 mm, Titlagarh 8 mm, Balasore 5 mm, Angul 2 mm, Jharsuguda 2 mm and Koraput 2 mm.

Now, due to the persistence of the cyclonic circulation over Odisha and adjoining areas; light to moderate showers with one or two heavy falls are anticipated over southern districts of the state during the next 24 to 48 hours. Places that would witness this rainy episode would be Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri and Balangir.

Afterward; the rainfall intensity is perhaps going to decrease; nevertheless intermittent scattered light rains with one or two moderate spells would still continue over Southern districts of Odisha.

As on July 9, the state of Odisha is rain deficient by 28%. On the other hand, Monsoon is most likely to become active over East India, bringing some really good showers over Odisha in the approaching days.

As a consequence to this; we can expect the rain deficiency to reduce gradually and incline to the surplus level.

Moreover, the upcoming rains are also expected to be beneficial for the paddy crops.
