The state of Jharkhand remained rain deficient as rainfall activities remained on the lower side throughout the Monsoon season. Heavy rains have also not been seen for a very long time.

In fact, the state has been witnessing the rainfall deficiency to the tune of -48 percent due to very little rainfall over the region. Southwest Monsoon also arrived over the state pretty late as compared to its usual date.
However, during the last 24 hours, heavy rainfall activity was observed over many parts of Jharkhand which occurred after a very long time.
In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Jamshedpur recorded heavy rains to the tune of 61 mm, Daltonganj saw 44 mm of rains, and Ranchi 21 mm.
These rainfall activities can be attributed to the depression which is persisting in close proximity of the state. The axis of Monsoon trough is also running very close by.
Now, during the next 12 hours moderate to heavy rainfall is expected over the state. However, as the system will move further westwards, rains will once again witness a reduction.
Therefore, the deficient figures will remain so and not much change is expected in the coming days.
