Rain in Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota; dry weather in Bikaner, Jaisalmer

Moderate rains continued to whip East Rajasthan particularly the southeastern districts like Kota, Chittorgarh and Bhilwara. These areas have been witnessing good rains since last two to three days.

In the meantime, the weather over western parts of Rajasthan like Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Phalodi and Jaisalmer remained almost dry.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Chittorgarh recorded rainfall to the tune of 29 mm, followed by Bhilwara wherein 26 mm of rains were observed. Other districts received light to moderate showers like Bundi 14 mm, Kota 13 mm, Ajmer 12 mm, Tonk 6 mm, Jaipur 4 mm, Siker 4 mm, Jodhpur 3 mm and Mount Abu 2 mm.

Weathermen at Skymet Weather predict scattered rains to continue over eastern parts of Rajasthan for the next 24 hours; however the districts of West Rajasthan will continue to witness dry weather.

These rains could be credited to the cyclonic circulation over North Madhya Pradesh that is likely to move northward. Owing to this, the weather over entire Rajasthan will go dry. The ongoing rain activity over East Rajasthan will also reduce significantly though isolated light rain will continue.

As on August 9, West Rajasthan is rain surplus by 93%. In comparison to this, East Rajasthan is rain surplus by just 19%.
