Updated on June 23, 12: pm - Due to the southwesterly winds that are reaching up to West Madhya Pradesh, we expect rainfall activity to increase over the state during the next 24 hours. Moderate spells are likely over western parts of Madhya Pradesh. Rest many parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are expected to receive light to moderate rains.
However, in the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Betul recorded 41.6 mm of rain, followed by Umaria 22.6 mm, Bhopal 12 mm, Dhar 5.6 mm, Indore 10.8 mm, Rewa 4 mm, Sagar 11 mm, Satna 1 mm, Ambikapur recorded 15.6 mm of rain, followed by Jagdalpur 0.1 mm, Pendra 0.7 mm.

The southern parts of Chhattisgarh and many parts of Madhya Pradesh received light to moderate rains during the last 24 hours. In fact, one or two heavy spells were also witnessed by these states.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh recorded heavy rain to the tune of 75.2 mm, followed by Durg at 68.6 mm and Jagdalpur at 30.9 mm of rains.
In the same time frame, Betul in Madhya Pradesh witnessed 41.6 mm of rain, Indore 20.5 mm, Khandwa 3 mm and Dhar 2.6 mm of rain. In wake of these rains, the temperatures have dropped by 3°C to 4°C.
These rains can be attributed to a trough which was extending through East Madhya Pradesh and parts of Chhattisgarh up to Karnataka Coast.
As per Skymet Weather, we expect light to moderate showers with one or two heavy spells over South Chhattisgarh and a few places of South and Central Madhya Pradesh.
Districts such as Mana, Durg, Bilaspur, and Jalgdalpur in Chhattisgarh would continue to record rains.
Meanwhile, Malanjhkhand, Chhindwara, Betul, Khargone, Khandwa, Dhar, Ratlam and Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh would witness rainfall activity. In fact, light rain in Bhopal and Indore cannot be ruled out. These on and off rains are likely to continue for the next three to four days.
These rains are likely to occur due to the wind confluence zone which is developing over the states. Moreover, dry northerly winds are interacting with warm easterly winds. Both these combined weather phenomena’s would give rise to cloud formation and scattered rainfall activity. The temperatures would continue to prevail in this order until the continuation of rains.
