Scattered light rains had occurred over parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on February 6-7. Due to the rainfall activity, the mercury had dropped significantly over most parts of Madhya Pradesh and at a few places over Chhattisgarh.

However, as the affecting weather systems cleared away, the weather became clear. As a result, the maximum temperatures of these two states increased during the last 24 hours but they are still settling marginally below normal. It is expected that the weather would remain clear until tomorrow.

However, rains are expected to make a comeback soon. According to weathermen, a trough is anticipated to develop from Rajasthan to South Chhattisgarh across Northwest Madhya Pradesh. Thus, dry and cold winds from northwest would merge with warm and humid winds from the Bay of Bengal over Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, forming a wind confluence zone.

Places such as Jabalpur, Damoh, Umaria, Mandla, and Hoshangabad in Madhya Pradesh are expected to witness light to moderate spells with one or two heavy showers. Meanwhile, Bhopal, Indore, and Gwalior are expected to witness one or two spells of light rain only.

Talking about Chhattisgarh, places like Durg, Raipur, Raigarh, Rajnandgaon, and Jagdalpur are expected to witness rain and thundershower activity of varying intensity.

These systems will result in rain and thundershower activity at many places over both the states from February 11- 13. As per Skymet Weather, many parts of Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh are likely to receive light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spells. Meanwhile, West and Northwest Madhya Pradesh are likely to settle with scattered light rains only.

With these rains, the maximum temperatures are expected to drop significantly once again and the weather will become cool and comfortable. Meanwhile, the night temperatures would rise initially but the minimums will start falling February 12 onwards over both the states.

Further, the rain intensity will reduce significantly by February 13 but isolated light rain may continue over East Madhya Pradesh and parts of Chhattisgarh. As per Skymet Weather, the weather would clear up completely by February 14 and the maximum temperatures would start rising gradually as a result of dry weather.
