The central parts of country have been witnessing rains for the past few days. Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have been recording the maximum amount of rainfall. In fact in the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Durg recorded extremely heavy three digit rain to the tune of 113 mm. In the same time frame, Bhopal recorded 15 mm, Indore 13 mm, Raisen 8 mm, Seoni 8 mm, Chhindwara 6 mm, Ujjain 6 mm, Damoh 2 mm and Jabalpur 0.4 mm of rains.

These rains can be attributed to a north-south trough which is extending from East Uttar Pradesh to the southern peninsula across East Madhya Pradesh and adjoining parts of Chhattisgarh.

Though, this year Southwest Monsoon has delayed significantly over Madhya Pradesh. Until now, it should have covered the entire state of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. However, pre Monsoon activities are going on, which are giving some relief to the residents.

As per Skymet Weather, weather activities earlier were confined to the eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh. Now, scattered rain and thundershowers also occurred over West Madhya Pradesh.

In the meanwhile, heavy rains occurred at a few places over the southern parts of Chhattisgarh. However, the northern districts remained almost dry. We do not expect Monsoon to progress further in the next three to four days. Despite this on and off light to moderate rains will continue over South Madhya Pradesh and South Chhattisgarh.

Remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh and North Chhattisgarh will be almost dry. Meanwhile, isolated rains cannot be ruled.

Places such as Seoni, Jabalpur, Chhindwara, Khargone, Khandwa, Durg, Rajnandgaon and Mana would record rainfall activity.

We do not anticipate much relief from the hot and humid weather. Rains will increase over Chhattisgarh as well as Madhya Pradesh around June 25 which would mark the onset of Southwest Monsoon in reaming parts of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
