Delhi winter rainAs reiterated by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, entire North India including Delhi observed rain on Wednesday and Thursday. Though, it has receded from most of the places, the national capital and its adjoining areas will continue to observe rain till Friday.

Some locations in Delhi that received rain on Wednesday night are Safdarjung where 2.5 mm of rain was recorded, Ayanagar 3 mm, Akshardham 2 mm, Pusa 3 mm, Narela 1 mm, Faridabad 1 mm, and Gurgaon 2 mm. The rainfall amounts were a little higher on Thursday with Safdarjung recording 6 mm of rain, Ayanagar 5 mm and Akshardham 3 mm of rain till 2 pm. In Faridabad and Gurgaon the amount of rainfall was much higher at 6 mm and 7 mm, respectively. Pusa and Narela also saw a substantial increase in rainfall amounts to 4 mm and 6 mm, respectively.

This spell of rain has already given the city 21 mm of rainfall against the monthly average of 20.8 mm.

Meanwhile, the weather is expected to clear by late evening tomorrow. Till then Delhi-NCR will continue to observe light intermittent rain. The rainfall in the region is due to the Western Disturbance moving across Jammu and Kashmir and a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan and its adjoining areas.

However, this respite will be short lived as fog and cloud will make a comeback on Sunday. On Monday, January 26, the weather is expected to remain foggy, thereby causing inconvenience in the Republic Day celebrations, especially when a high-profile guest like Barack Obama is to grace the occasion.
