Rain in Delhi, thunder-squalls likely; hot and dry winds in east

The weather in Delhi will have a partly cloudy sky during the next 24 hours. There are chances of rain in Delhi during the period. Rain will also be witnessed in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in Western Himalayan region. Plains of northwest India over Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and west Uttar Pradesh could also observe thunder development with rain at one or two places during the next two days. Showers would also occur at a couple of places in Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya. Tamil Nadu and Kerala will also have rain at one or two places today and tomorrow.

A Western Disturbance that lies over southern Afghanistan and adjoining Pakistan is expected to arrive today over Jammu & Kashmir. The weather system is weak yet it will give rain over Jammu & Kashmir at a few places while Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will also garner rain thereafter. Weather in Delhi will become partly cloudy and there are chances of thunder-squalls as well at one or two place during the next 24 hours.

Night temperatures in Delhi will be stable but they could drop marginally thereafter. Day temperatures could rise a bit during the next two days. Winds during the next 24 to 48 hours will be easterly to southeasterly over Delhi. These northerly to northwesterly winds would resume thereafter.

A trough (region of intensified moist winds) of low pressure area that runs from Assam to north Bay of Bengal will continue to persist and rain will occur at a few places over northeastern states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland under its aegis. Rain at a few places is also expected in Sikkim during the next 24 hours.

East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are witnessing close to 40 degrees day temperatures that will continue for next two days. Warm westerly winds during the daytime have boosted the temperatures and hot and dry wind conditions may prevail in these parts for another 48 hours. But eastward movement of the Western Disturbance will drop the day temperature thereafter.

Another trough of low pressure area runs from Vidarbha to south Tamil Nadu across interior Andhra Pradesh. Rain is expected at one or two places in Tamil Nadu and Kerala during the next 24 hours.
