Rain in Delhi, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh adds to the misery of people

The upper air cyclonic circulation over south Rajasthan and neighbouring areas has shifted north eastwards extending up to 2.1 km and is presently seen over west Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas. The Western Disturbance, which has induced a cyclonic circulation over Haryana has also moved north eastwards over the hills of Northeast India.

As predicted by Skymet, this system brought good amounts of rain in Delhi, parts of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Few places in Madhya Pradesh also received light rain while, Bhopal, Guna and Gwalior received traces of rain on Friday. Cold day conditions continue to prevail in these places as fog in East India has almost abated with dense fog in pockets only. Moreover, rains seem to have aggravated the severe conditions in North and East India.

The rain belt is likely to move eastwards to cover Bihar, Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas in the next 24 hours and dissipate thereafter.

A fresh circulation over Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas may bring rain over the state. A trough extending from the Arabian Sea may reach up to Rajasthan and the northern plains, bringing showers in there after 48 hours.

Rain in South India

The system in the Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep area brought rain in Thiruvananthapuram and Ameni. The wind discontinuity from Rajasthan to Lakshadweep moved further westwards, away from the Indian coast and has now become insignificant. Humid easterly winds could bring light rain in the coastal belt of Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the next 24 hours. This year South India did not receive good amounts of rain from the Northeast Monsoons and most of the states remained rain deficit.
