Republic Day celebrations have begun at Rajpath in Delhi amidst light rain. While Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was braving the rain in just a bandh gala with his 'pagdi' on, lots of dignitaries were spotted holding umbrellas. In fact, President Obama - the first American President to be the chief guest at India's grand Republic Day - was also seen sporting an umbrella just before the recital of the national anthem.
The spell of rain began early in the morning today and is expected to continue for another hour. Thereafter rain will stop but cloudy weather will prevail. There is very rare chance of the sun coming out today.
