After witnessing a sharp rise in day temperatures in the last couple of days, the northwest plain is once again bracing up for rain. This will lead to a drop in maximum temperatures on the 6th and 7th of February, giving reprieve from the relatively warm weather. A Western Disturbance is expected to arrive over Jammu & Kashmir by then to bring clouds and rain in Delhi and other parts of northwest plains.
Very early in February the region is witnessing day temperatures in the higher twenties. However, our meteorologists expect that maximums in the region would fall a little in the coming two to three days due to clouds and rain.
Day temperatures in places like Delhi, Hisar, Agra, Gwalior and Jaipur are above normal by 5°C but as rain and cloud cover is expected during the next two to three days, they could fall by up to 3°C.
Meanwhile, day temperatures in the upper parts of northwest plains i.e. north Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh have dropped due to rain and clouds. Amritsar recorded a maximum of 16.4°C on Monday. According to our forecast, with a marginal rise on Tuesday and Wednesday, day temperature will again fall to settle around 16°C on Thursday and Friday in Amritsar.
Plains of Jammu & Kashmir also recorded rain and observed drop in day temperatures on Monday. Jammu saw the maximum temperature record 15.8°C, 5 notches below average. The winter capital also recorded 8 mm of rain yesterday. Day temperature in Srinagar is recording normal at 7°C due to rain on Monday.
