Rain in Delhi cannot be ruled out, says Skymet's Meteorology Division in India

February 22, 2014 12:02 PM |

In view of the cyclonic circulation over west Rajasthan which is fetching moisture from the Arabian Sea, Delhiites woke up to a gloomy and cloudy morning.

As predicted by Skymet's Meteorology Division in India, minimums across the northern plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and adjoining areas have risen to double digits, in view of clouding. The minimum temperature recorded at the Palam observatory in Delhi was 13°C, as against 11°C yesterday. The Safdarjung Observatory showed a rise of more than 3 degrees at 12.5°C.

Several stations in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have received rain since Friday evening. The rain belt was widespread but spared the national capital as it remained on the fringes of Delhi/NCR.

According to latest weather update by Skymet's Meteorology Division in India we cannot rule out the possibility of light rain in Delhi by today evening. Delhi recorded a maximum of 24.6°C at its Safdarjung Observatory on Friday while, the Palam Observatory recorded 25.2°C as the maximum temperature. Today the day temperatures will show only marginal changes as rain is expected only in the late evening hours.

Skymet's Meteorology Division in India explains that the cyclonic circulation has lost strength and will become insignificant by tomorrow. The system will cease to affect the Indian Meteorology condition, especially Delhi. As the weather clears up minimums are again expected to drop from Sunday onwards.
