Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha have been receiving scattered light to moderate rainfall activity since the last two days. However, West Bengal is still rain deficient by 51%, as weather remained almost dry in the beginning of October.
Meanwhile, scattered rains occurred over Gangetic West Bengal and few central districts of the state between 0ctober 9 and 12, which were due to the effect of Cyclone Titli.
On the other hand, Odisha is rain surplus by 13%, as due to the effect of Cyclone Titli, many parts of Odisha received heavy to extremely heavy rains between 0ctober 9 and 12.
However, since then weather conditions have gone almost dry over the interior districts. Meanwhile, on and off light scattered rains continued over the coastal districts.
Now a low-pressure area is expected of form over Northwest Bay of Bengal any time soon. Therefore, we expect scattered light to moderate rains to continue over Coastal Odisha as well as Gangetic West Bengal for another 48 hours.
Interior parts of Odisha and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal will continue to witness dry and warm weather conditions. Thereafter, rains will reduce, and rain belt is expected to shift towards Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur.
