The southern parts of Coastal Tamil Nadu witnessed light to moderate rainfall activity over few places during the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, rest of the state remained warm and dry with day temperatures settling in mid-30s.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Kanyakumari recorded 8.6 mm of rain, followed by Palayamkottai 3 mm and Tondi 1.8 mm.
At present, an upper air cyclonic circulation is persisting over Southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka Coast. An upper air trough is also extending from this system to Odisha Coast.
Due to these weather systems, rain intensity is expected to increase along the Tamil Nadu Coast including the capital city Chennai. Hence, light to moderate rains are expected over coastal parts of Tamil Nadu during next the two to three days.
The interior parts of Tamil Nadu will receive light rain at isolated pockets. Mainly warm and humid weather conditions will prevail over these regions. Day temperatures are expected to decrease during the coming days along the coast of Tamil Nadu.
