Rain in Chennai, Tamil Nadu for 2-3 days to keep weather comfortable

Scattered rains have been going on over Chennai for the last three to four days. In fact, one or two moderate spells were also witnessed by the city. Further also, as per Skymet Weather, scattered rain and thundershower activities will continue over the city for the next three to four days.

In fact, we expect one or two moderate spells of rain likely over Chennai around September 29-30 .

The interior parts of Tamil Nadu have also recorded light to moderate rains, with heavy at a few places. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Tuesday, Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu recorded heavy rains to the tune of 76 mm and Tiruttani witnessed moderate intensity rain of 21 mm.

In the same span of time, Salem recorded 19 mm rain, Madurai 3 mm, Vellore 10 mm, Kodaikanal 3 mm and Tiruttani 1 mm of rain. Meanwhile, Minambakkam and Nungambakkam Observatory of Chennai only recorded mere 0.1 mm of rain.

These ongoing rains can be attributed to a trough that is extending from North Coastal Andhra Pradesh to Kerala across North Tamil Nadu and Interior Karnataka.

Maximum temperatures may fall marginally leading to some relief from the ongoing sultry weather conditions and morning and night will become comfortable.  As on September 26, Tamil Nadu is one of the rainiest states and is rain surplus by 33 percent.
