This winter season, the weather of Tamil Nadu including Chennai remained almost dry with only isolated weather activities over the interior parts. Therefore, at present the entire state of Tamil Nadu is rain deficient by 83%.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Adirampattinam received intense thundershower activity and recorded 26 mm of rain. Along with this, its nearby areas also received traces of rain. However, Chennai remain dry with warm and humid weather.
Now, humid southeasterly winds from Bay of Bengal are feeding moisture over Tamil Nadu. In fact, a confluence zone has also formed in lower levels over the state. Thus, we expect light rainfall activity at few places over the southern and coastal districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during the next 24 hours.
Chennai may also get isolated rain or thunderstorm activities. The sky is likely to remain partly cloudy. Maximum and minimum temperatures over the city are expected to be settle 33˚C and 24˚C, respectively.
After 24 hours, weather over Tamil Nadu is expected to go dry once again. But as these rains will be light and patchy, they will not have much impact over Tamil Nadu. The rain deficiency is also likely to reduce very marginally.
