Monsoon is just a couple of days away to knock the doors of Chandigarh and other parts of Punjab. However, light rains have been showing up in Chandigarh from the last 3-4 days but the last good spells that the city has observed was on June 19 after which the weather became dry.
However, the last 24 hours were not much rainy for the capital of Punjab but now Skymet Weather foresees that the rains are expected to continue showing up in Chandigarh, increasing gradually.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday, Chandigarh recorded light rains of 2.9 mm. The reason for these light traces of rains can be attributed to the continuous arrival of Western Disturbances over the Western Himalayan region.

As reiterated by Skymet Weather, the Western Disturbance which was over Jammu and Kashmir is though moving away but another Western Disturbance which is at present over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir is likely to approach the Western Himalayas.
On account of these weather systems and continuous approach of Western Disturbances, Punjab and Haryana including Chandigarh is likely to receive light to moderate rains. These showers are expected to pick up the pace gradually in the next 48 hours.
Moreover, Southwest Monsoon is also anticipated to make an onset over Punjab including Chandigarh by July 2 or 3.
