Rain in Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Patiala, Ambala, Karnal to continue

The states of Punjab and Haryana have recorded good rainfall activities during the last 24 hours. In fact, moderate to heavy rainfall has been recorded over these areas in the same time frame. In fact, dust storm was also observed over many parts of Punjab and Haryana.

These rainfall activities occurred due to the presence of a Western Disturbance as an upper air system over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir region, along with its associated induced cyclonic circulation over East central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab region.

In Punjab, during the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Chandigarh recorded heavy rain to the tune of 66 mm, followed by Ludhiana 38 mm, Patiala 23.6 mm, Kapurthala 26 mm, Amritsar 7.3 mm, Bhatinda 14 mm, Ferozepur 6 mm, Jalandhar 8 mm.

During the same time few places of Haryana also recorded moderate to heavy rains as follows - Karnal 44.4 mm, Ambala 30.3 mm, Kurukshetra 17 mm,

Now as these systems are moving east-northeastwards slowly. Therefore, we expect spell of dust storm, rain and thundershowers with strong winds and lightning over both these states during next 24-36 hours.

Significant fall in day temperatures is expected during this period. Thereafter, as rains will decrease, day temperatures will also start increasing.
