Rain in Chandigarh, Ambala, Hisar, Ludhiana, Patiala to return by February 23

Punjab-rainThe states of Punjab and Haryana have remained dry for over a week now, pushing both the maximum and minimum  temperatures above the normal average.

However, rains and thundershowers are now all set to make a comeback soon. By February 23, several parts of Punjab and Haryana would start recording rain activity of varying intensity. The spell would be a prolonged one and is most likely to stay for at least next 2-3 days.

Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected to occur over Ambala, Bhiwani, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jind, Kaithal, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panchkula, Panipat, Rohtak, Sonepat, Yamuna Nagar and Sangrur districts of Haryana from February 23-25.

Similarly in Punjab, rain and thundershower with isolated hailstorm is also expected to occur over Amritsar, Barnala, Bathinda, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Fazilka, Firozpur, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Mansa, Moga, Muktsar, Nawan Shehar, Pathankot, Patiala, Rupnagar, Sangrur, SAS Nagar and Taran Taran during the same time.
Initially by February 23, rains would be isolated in nature but would gain pace gradually and would peak on February 24. Isolated hailstorm is also expected over some parts.

According to Skymet Weather, a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to start affecting Jammu and Kashmir by February 23. The system would also induce a cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining Northwest Rajasthan. Both the system would move in tandem in east direction, making weather conditions conducive for rain and thundershowers over the plains of North India.

Rains would considerably by February 25 and fading away thereafter. This would break would be a brief one as rains are most likely to return by February 28.
