Rain In Rajasthan

Winter rains this time have been on the excess side over many places of the plains. In fact, the desert state of Rajasthan has also received way more rains than the normal levels. Talking about the rainfall figures over the state, West Rajasthan is surplus by 33% and East Rajasthan by 9% till date for the month of March.

Isolated pockets of the state, particularly Churu did record light rains on March 4.

Now, rains are all set to make an appearance once again over the state of Rajasthan. Thus, light rain and thundershower activities are expected over North and West Rajasthan.

A Western Disturbance is approaching Western Himalayas and its induced Cyclonic Circulation will form over western parts of Rajasthan, hence light rains are expected in some parts of North and West Rajasthan on March 7. Places like Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu, Bikaner, Jhunjhunu, Sikar might witness light rain and thundershower activities.

At present, the day temperature over most parts of Rajasthan are below normal by three to four degrees and are in the range of 27°C-30°C. Minimums too are below normal, particularly in the northern regions where they are ranging between 10°C and 13°C, whereas, West Rajasthan is seeing minimums in the range of 14°C-16°C.

However, in coming two to three days, the temperatures are expected to become normal or might even increase because of change in wind direction to southwesterlies around March 7 and 8.

As per weathermen at Skymet, these rains won’t be significant. However, it is expected that it might marginally improve the rain statistics of West Rajasthan.

On the other hand, weather in Jaipur, Kota, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jodhpur would remain dry.

From the tourist point of view, weather would be comfortable for a visit to the ever beautiful and royal Rajasthan until mid of March. Post this, mercury will be only on the increasing side and days will be hot.
