In the wake of humid easterly winds and cyclonic circulation over parts of East Uttar Pradesh, along with a trough extending up to Northeast India across parts of Bihar, during the last 24 hours, light to moderate rains with one or two intense showers lashed parts of Bihar, especially foothills of Bihar.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday, Purnea recorded heavy rainfall activity to the tune of 45 mm, followed by Subaur 22 mm, Bhagalpur 19 mm, Muzaffarpur 18 mm, Forbesganj 16 mm, Darbhanga 5 mm and Supaul 4 mm.

Now, further also, weather conditions are favorable for the occurrence of scattered pre-Monsoon weather activities over most parts of Bihar. In fact, in the coming, two to three days, pre-Monsoon rain and thundershower activities will cover more parts of the state.

Places such as Patna, Krishnanagar, Purnea, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur will be witnessing moderate rain and thundershowers with strong winds.

Due to these rains, we expect the temperatures both day and night over most places of Bihar to drop by two to three degrees Celsius. Currently, the maximum temperatures in Bihar are above normal which will drop and settle below normal over a few places.

Moreover, the possibility of lightning strikes and strong winds will increase over the eastern district of Bihar. Therefore, people must take precautions during the time of thunderstorm activity as lightning is one of the major killers during the pre-Monsoon season especially over the eastern and northeastern states of India.
