At present the western parts of Odisha are under the grip of heat wave like condition, with day temperatures settling around 43 degree Celsius. Yesterday, Titlagarh recorded its maximum temperature at recorded 46.5˚C, followed Bhawanipatna 44.3˚C, Angul 44.1˚C and Phulbani 43˚C.

Meanwhile, the northeastern parts witnessed light to moderate rain and thundershower activities accompanied with strong winds during the last 24 hours. Balasore recorded 26.6 mm of rain, followed by Paradip 23.5 mm, Baripada 16.4 mm and Sundargarh 4 mm. Remaining parts of the state observed dry weather conditions.

Now a cyclonic circulation lies over Chhattisgarh and adjoining parts of Jharkhand. An upper air trough is extending from this system up to parts of Telangana. Due to these systems, warm and moist winds from Bay of Bengal are likely to affect coastal and central parts of Odisha.

Thus, due to accumulation of moisture and above weather systems, coastal and central parts of Odisha including places like Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Bhadrak, Balasore, Paradip and Raigarh will witness light to moderate rain and thunder showers with strong winds.

However, as the western parts will remain under the influence of northwesterly winds, dry and very warm weather with heat wave like condition in parts will occur over places like Bhawanipatna, Titlagarh, Nabarangpur and Balangir during the next two to three days.
