At present, very warm, uneasy and humid weather is prevailing in most parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal.
According to Skymet Weather, a Cyclonic Circulation is present over southern parts of coastal West Bengal and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal. Moreover, easterlies/south-easterlies are prevailing in most parts of East India. Plus, an East West Trough is expected to form in the lower levels from Northeast India up to North of Odisha.
In the wake of all these systems, rains may occur in parts of extreme North Bihar, Malda, North and South Parganas as well as coastal Odisha. These areas will experience light rains during next 24 hours. Moreover, southerly/southeasterly winds will blow for next few days over these places.
Weather alert for Odisha
Spell of rain and thundershowers with gusty winds will occur over Balangir, Baleshwar, Bargarh, Baudh, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Debagarh, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghapur, Jajapur, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Kendujhar, Khordha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangapur, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Puri, Sambalpur, Subarnapur and Sundargarh next 2-4 hours.
Some rains have already occurred during the last 24 hours as well, wherein Odisha coast and Gangetic west Bengal have received light rains, whereas good rains were observed over Sub Himalayan West Bengal.
On the contrary, rest of the region, will continue to experience very warm, uneasy and humid weather conditions. Moreover, heat wave like conditions will continue for another 24 hours in interior Odisha, extreme West Jharkhand and adjoining Bihar.
The normal onset date of Monsoon in East India is June 10. However, due to the late arrival of monsoon in Kerala, the delay is expected in East India as well.
