The states of Kerala as well as Karnataka have not seen much rains during the last few days. Kerala has seen some rainfall activity, but that too has remained on the lighter side only and along with which, the spread has also been limited. In fact, the states have not seen good rainfall being observed over these areas for a long time now.

In fact, the last 24 hours have been completely dry for both these states due to the absence of any significant weather system in proximity of the region.

At present, a Cyclonic Circulation is over the Equatorial Indian Ocean region and adjoining Sri Lanka coast. This system is likely to move further in a northwest direction. Along with this, a trough is extending from this system up to West-central Bay.

Due to this system, rainfall activity is expected to begin over the state of Kerala. While some areas will see light rainfall, others may see some moderate rainfall activity. Cities of Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Kochi, Alappuzha, and others may receive some rains for the next two days or so.

Along with this, extreme southern parts of Karnataka including the cities of Bengaluru, Mangaluru and adjoining areas may see light to moderate rains for the next 48 hours or so. Rest of the state will see only light rainfall activity.
