Rain and thundershower activities at scattered places with gusty winds was witnessed in South Interior Karnataka along with Kerala in the last 24 hours. A few parts of North Karnataka also recorded thundershowers wherein, Gulbarga recorded 7 mm of rain.

Whereas, Bengaluru, Mysore, Mangalore recorded 2 mm, 3 mm and 6 mm of rain, respectively. However, heat wave conditions prevailed over the extreme northern parts of the state. At present, a Cyclonic Circulation has formed over Vidarbha and adjoining Telangana. Along with this, a trough is extending from Vidarbha up to Tamil Nadu coast across Karnataka. Another trough is seen running from Konkan to Lakshadweep.

In the wake of these weather systems, in the coming 24 hours, rain and thundershower activities would enhance in South Interior Karnataka like Bengaluru, Mysore, Chitradurga, Chamarajanagar and Gadag with chances of isolated heavy rains at few places.

Isolated activities are also possible in parts of North Karnataka with few moderate spells over Raichur, Ballari, and Gulbarga which would be associated with strong winds. Despite high temperatures over these regions, clouding might help in bringing down the mercury. There is a possibility of rain as well but during the late afternoon hours.

Kerala

Due to the prevalent weather systems, scattered activities will be a sight in Kozhikode whereas light rainfall activity could be seen in the remaining parts of the state. According to meteorologists at Skymet, present conditions are slowly becoming favourable for Southwest Monsoon to reach Kerala in the coming few days. A Cyclonic Circulation is expected to form over Tamil Nadu coast as well as over Kerala coast that is likely to enhance the rainfall activity in Kerala on June 3. In the past 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday, Kannur and Alappuzha witnessed 6.9 mm and 26.4 mm of rain, respectively.
