The low-pressure area over Southeast Arabian Sea has now intensified into a well-marked low-pressure area. However, this system is further expected to intensity into a depression soon.

Due to the effect of this system, southern parts of Karnataka have recorded widespread moderate rainfall activity mainly along the coast. Meanwhile, northern parts of Karnataka remained mainly dry with isolated light rainfall activity.

In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, Honnavar recorded 44.5 mm of rain, followed by Karwar 40.0 mm, Mangalore 17.5 mm, Madikeri 11.6 mm, Agumbe 20.4 mm, Hassan 11.2 mm, Mandya 3.6 mm and Bengaluru 2.5 mm.

Now as this system is moving away, we expect rainfall activity to reduce further. However, the southern and coastal parts of Karnataka will continue to receive light to moderate rainfall activity. Isolated rains may also occur over the northern parts of the state.

Talking about the temperatures over Karnataka, at present the maximum temperatures over northern parts of the state are seen settling in the low-30s and the southern parts in high-20s. Further as the clouding will decrease the day temperatures are expected to rise marginally over the entire state.
