As per Skymet Weather, Monsoon has covered entire Coastal Karnataka and parts of South Interior Karnataka. Meanwhile, it has not yet reached Bengaluru.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Bengaluru recorded rain to the tune of 10.5 mm, Karwar 3.6 mm, Kalaburgi 3 mm and Mangaluru 2.3 mm of rains.

It is anticipated that scattered light rain will continue over Karnataka including Bengaluru during the next few days. Now Monsoon will remain normal over coastal areas and subdued over the interior parts. The rains have reduced due to the weakening of the well-marked low-pressure area in Southeast Arabian Sea off Karnataka has weakened. This system gave extremely heavy rains over the coastal districts on May 29 leading to flooding in Mangaluru.

The rain intensity is expected to pick up the pace once again over North Interior Karnataka by May 5 or May 6. Until then, Monsoon will cover most parts of Karnataka. During that time, Bengaluru will receive Monsoon rains. These rains will occur due to the formation of a cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal which is expected to move in a westerly direction leading to increased rains over Rayalaseema and Karnataka.
