Rain in Bengaluru, Karnataka to intensify further

Moderate to heavy pre-Monsoon spells occurred over the southern and coastal parts of Karnataka during the past day. Mangalore recorded heavy rain to the tune of 38.2 mm, Bengaluru 32.9 mm, Madikeri 20.8 mm, Hassan 17.8 mm, Agumbe 12.2 mm and Mysore 28 mm of rains in the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday.

A cyclonic circulation is persisting over Tamil Nadu and adjoining regions. Another cyclonic circulation is prevailing over South Kerala. In fact, a trough is extending across these two circulations. Moreover, moisture incursion is taking place from Bay of Bengal over many parts of South Karnataka.

In wake of these combined weather systems, pre-Monsoon activities are likely to increase over the southern parts of Karnataka and Coastal Karnataka during the next 24 hours. These pre-Monsoon rains are likely to continue during the next many days. In fact, scattered rains may also occur over the northern parts of Karnataka.

Capital city Bengaluru, and adjoining regions will continue to witness light to moderate rain and thundershower activity in the next few days. In fact, Bengaluru has been recording so much rain that it has surpassed its monthly average also.

Meanwhile, the temperatures will remain very high in northern parts of Karnataka such as Gulbarga, Raichur, and Bidar.
