The state of Karnataka has been witnessing scattered light to moderate rains which was the case in the last 24 hours as well.
In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Belgaum recorded 3 mm of rains, and Gulbarga saw 1 mm of rainfall activity.
At present, a Cyclonic Circulation lies over southeastern parts of the Arabian Sea off the Kerala and Karnataka coast. This system will be intensifying further and due to the presence of this system, moist winds are feeding moisture over the Karnataka region.
Thus, during the next 24 to 48 hours, light to moderate rains will continue over Karnataka. Moreover, significant fall in temperatures is expected over the state, particularly the northern regions due to the presence of clouding over the state. Moreover, rain in Bengaluru will also continue for at least the next couple of days.
Rains will continue and will further witness an increase over the coastal parts after 48 to 72 hours. During that time, heavy to very heavy rains may be seen over many parts of Coastal Karnataka.
However, during this time, the interior parts of Karnataka will see a reduction in the moisture due to the system moving north northwestwards, intensifying into a low-pressure area and pulling the moisture towards itself. Southwest Monsoon 2019 has been delayed over Kerala and is likely to arrive even later over Karnataka.
