Rains have remained far and few from showing up over Northeast India as most of the month of January remained rain deficient for the region. However, there were a few occasions when light rains along with light snowfall activity occurred in isolated parts of the northeastern region, the amount of the rainfall activity on a lesser side.
Similar weather prevailed in the last 24 hours as well wherein most of Northeast India remained dry. However, North Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh and Pasighat received some light traces of rains.
In a turn of events, the weathermen at Skymet Weather expect some light rains to occur over parts of Northeast India today.

However, these rains would be seen occurring mostly over East Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. In fact, some light snowfall activity over the higher reaches of Arunachal Pradesh cannot be ruled out as well. Moreover, parts of Nagaland are also likely to get some light rains.
Whereas, the other regions of Northeast India are anticipated to escape the rain show.

A cyclonic circulation persisting over East Bangladesh and adjoining area, moisture feed from the Bay of Bengal and the remnants of the Western Disturbance are anticipated to be the reason for these light showers.
These rains are expected to continue for the next 24 hours and would start reducing thereafter. Skymet Weather expects another round of rain across East Assam and Arunachal Pradesh around February 8 and 9.
