Northeast India during the winters observes rains due to one major reason, i.e., whenever Western Disturbances after affecting the Western Himalayas move towards the east, one arm of the system usually moves along the foothills of the Himalayas towards Northeast India.
Moreover, the remnants of the Western Disturbance give rain and snow over Arunachal Pradesh along with some higher regions of the state of Assam.
Now, we expect the present Western Disturbance which is moving towards the east will give scattered light rains with one or two moderate spells over Arunachal Pradesh, particularly the higher reaches, for the next 24 hours. Thereafter, weather is expected to become dry.
Isolated light rains may also occur over some areas of Assam. However, rest of Northeast India is expected to remain dry and will continue with similar weather only. Minimum temperatures will remain in the cool range while the day is expected to remain comfortable.
Sky conditions are expected to remain mostly clear over the state of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. However, sky will remain partly cloudy over the state of Meghalaya as well as Assam.
In a nutshell, for the next few days, most of Northeast India will not see any weather activity. However, light rainfall may continue over Arunachal Pradesh.
