Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana had been recording widespread rainfall activity in the past. However, rain intensity has now reduced over the adjoining states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh recorded 4.6 mm of rain, Vijayawada 4.2 mm, Machilipatnam 1.2 mm, Ongole 0.3 mm and Visakhapatnam 0.2 mm of rains.
In the same time span, Ramagundam in Telangana witnessed 20.4 mm of rain, Hyderabad 5.1 mm, Hanamkonda 5 mm and Nizamabad 0.2 mm of rains.
As on July 17, Telangana is rain surplus by 30 percent, Coastal Andhra Pradesh by 29 percent. Meanwhile, Rayalaseema is rain deficient by 16 percent.
The rain surplus amounts over Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh are due to the development of recurring weather systems over west-central Bay of Bengal which travelled towards west affecting these regions in terms of moderate to heavy Monsoon rains.
However, these systems failed to give rainfall activity over Rayalaseema as the movement of the system was westerly and no weather system formed over the south-central Bay of Bengal which would have given good rains.
As per Skymet weather, now we do not expect moderate to heavy showers over these two states for the next four to five days as the fresh low-pressure area which is expected to develop over north-west Bay of Bengal will follow a northern track affecting Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh.
Thus, only scattered light rains are expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the next few days. Meanwhile, Rayalaseema will be almost dry.
