Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been lashed by good rains for a long time. Rainfall has been on and off with a few days seeing light to moderate rains while other days rains have been on the heavier side. The rainfall spread has also been varying with the northern and southern areas recording good showers.

The last 24 hours have also seen good showers lashing the islands with the northern regions recording good showers.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Long Island saw a whopping 25 mm of rains, Maya Bundar 21 mm, Nancowry 17 mm, and Port Blair saw light showers to the tune of 1 mm.

Presently, a cyclonic circulation is over North Andaman Sea which is likely to intensify into a low-pressure area. Due to the increasing strength of the system, moderate to heavy rains are likely over North Andaman Islands. Southern parts, i.e., the Nicobar region is expected to see light to moderate rains.

These weather conditions, i.e., good rains are expected to persist for next 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, rain intensity will see a reduction as this system will intensify and move further away.
