The month of June ended on a surplus note for both Punjab and Haryana as rains have been lashing most districts of the state from last many days. Though these rains were occasional in nature, these rains added on to the rainfall statistics.

The month of July also started with moderate to heavy spells at many places. Districts like Amritsar and Ludhiana recorded a few light spells. However, most parts of Haryana stayed mainly dry. As Monsoon is playing actively over the eastern parts of the country, rains have taken a back seat from pouring over the northwest plains including Punjab and Haryana resulting in dry days over most parts.

Skymet Weather reiterates that the induced cyclonic circulation that normally forms over central Pakistan and adjoining parts of Haryana and Punjab have become feeble in nature. This cyclonic circulation is responsible for inducing rains over northern plains. This trough is also expected to shift towards the foothills of Himalayas. Moreover, the strength of Western Disturbance has also become weak.

On account of the combination of these weather systems, dry weather is anticipated to continue over Haryana and Punjab.

However, as per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over Haryana and adjoining areas. In the wake of this, scattered rains are expected over eastern parts of Haryana and adjoining West Uttar Pradesh. But, districts of West Haryana and most parts of Punjab including North Rajasthan will remain almost dry.
