Rain in Alappuzha, Idukki, Kannur, Thiruvananthapuram expected

The state of Kerala has been seeing good rains for the past 24 hours. Rainfall activity has been on the less intense side during the last 24 hours.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Alappuzha recorded a good 10 mm of rains, Thiruvananthapuram 10 mm, Punalur 5 mm, Palayankottai 7 mm, and Kochi 3 mm.

At present, a cyclonic circulation is over Sri Lanka and adjoining areas. Not only this, an upper air trough is extending from this system to South Konkan Coast across Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka Coast.

Due to presence of these systems, warm and moist winds are blowing over the state of Kerala.

Due to this, rainfall activity is expected over many parts of Kerala during the next 24 hours. Thus, cities of Palghat, Malapuram, Idukki, Thiruvananthapuram, Kannur, Kochi, Alappuzha will be witnessing rains during the next 24 hours.

That won’t be the end of rains for the state of Kerala as on and off showers of varied intensity are expected to continue for the next few days. In fact, the intensity of rains is expected to increase by quite a bit in the coming week where heavy showers are likely to lash the state.
