Rain in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Surat, Valsad to continue

After a prolonged dry spell, since last 48 hours, rains have begun over the state of Gujarat. In fact, some parts have even recorded moderate spells of rains.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Surat 28.7 mm, Baroda 25.4 mm, Rajkot 15.4 mm, Mahuva 15 mm, Ahmedabad 3.3 mm, Amreli and Veraval 2 mm, Bhavnagar 0.1 mm.

Currently, a cyclonic circulation is seen over South Gujarat Coast and adjoining Konkan, between 2.1 to 3.6 kms. An upper air trough is also seen extending from this system to central parts of Pakistan across central parts of Gujarat.

Due to presence of these systems, moist winds are affecting Gujarat, simultaneously Southwest Monsoon is also advancing over the state. Hence, moderate spells of rain and thundershowers will occur over the state during the next five to six days, excluding the Kutch region.

However, Kutch region will continue to experience warm weather with high day temperatures. But we expect light rains over the region around June 28.

South Coastal Gujarat and southeastern parts of Gujarat will receive moderate to heavy showers during the next three days till June 27.

Thereafter, light to moderate rains will continue in pockets of Gujarat as Southwest Monsoon will be affecting over the state.

Moreover, rain and thundershowers with strong winds of 40-70 kmph may occur at many parts of Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman, Ahmedabad, Amreli, Anand, Aravali, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Botad, Chota Udaipur, Dohad, Gandhinagar, Gir Somnath, Kheda, Mahesana, Mahisagar, Marvi, Narmada, Navsari, Panch Mahals, Patan, Rajkot, Sabar Kantha, Surat, Surendranagar, Tapi, Dang, Vadodara, Valsad and Veraval during next 4-6 hours.
