The month of March has been good for the City of Joy. While the weather conditions have remained dry during the last week, rain gods are expected to give a rainy surprise to the residents of Kolkata. In fact, the possibility of hailstorm over isolated pockets cannot be ruled out.

Kolkata, between March 8 and 12 has witnessed good rains. In fact, a few heavy spells were also observed over the capital city of West Bengal. So much so that Kolkata recorded a whopping 130 mm of rainfall during the time-period.

These rains happen to be the highest during the month of March in the past two decades or so. In fact, just a little less than two weeks are still left and the city is expected to witness a rainy two days which will only add to the rainfall figures.

These rains can be attributed to the trough which is extending from North Bihar to Gangetic West Bengal. A cyclonic circulation is also over Assam and adjoining Bangladesh which will feed moisture over Kolkata and its adjoining areas.

Thus, good rains are likely to continue for at least two days which will result in drop in temperatures. Both the maximum and minimum will settle below the normal levels.
