As predicted by Skymet Weather, light rain has occurred over Pendra and Daltonganj districts of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand in last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday.
These rains were a result of a Confluence Zone that is extending from East Madhya Pradesh up to Gangetic West Bengal across North Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.
According to our meteorologists, the system is expected to persist for some more time and we expect the intensity to gradually increase and cover more parts of the states.
Today, we expect light rains at few places, but tomorrow onward, moderate to heavy rain and thundershower activities are predicted over many parts of North Chhattisgarh as well as Jharkhand.
Places like Ambikapur, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh and Daltonganj, Deogarh, Dumka in Jharkhand will witness rainfall activity.
This spell of rain will continue until March 18. During this period there are chances of heavy hailstorm activities at some places ,which may lead to major crop damage. Moreover, violent thundershower activities- known as Nor’westers in meteorological term-, along with lightning strikes and squally winds are likely on March 17 and 18.
By March 19, the weather system will start moving away eastwards and the intensity of rain will start tapering, giving way to clear weather conditions.
Both the states have remained rain deficient so far, but the upcoming spell might help these states to improve their deficiency figures.
