Minimum temperatures across North India have witnessed an increase yesterday after being on a drop for a long time. In fact, yesterday minimums had already increased in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and a few areas of Punjab buy two to three degrees Celsius. Another increase of one to two degrees Celsius has been observed.
Today, Delhi NCR, Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and even parts of Central India including North Madhya Pradesh saw an increase of three to five degrees. Some parts have even seen a rise of six degrees in minimums.
The reason for this increase in temperature can be attributed to the abatement of wind chill factor which has been persisting due to cold winds coming from the Himalayas. Sky has now become cloudy over many parts.
North Punjab is likely to see rainfall activity soon. Gradually the rain belt will shift towards rest of Punjab.
Also, West Haryana, North Rajasthan may see some light rains. Uttarakhand and Punjab may see isolated hailstorm activity as well. Delhi may see isolated light rains in very few pockets. West Uttar Pradesh is expected to remain dry while Northwest Uttar Pradesh, adjacent to Uttarakhand may see light rainfall.
Tomorrow, rainfall activity will take a backseat with only parts of Punjab seeing rains. However, hilly states of North India will continue to see heavy rains and snowfall. Minimum temperatures will continue to remain on the higher side while day temperatures may observe a fall due to cloudy Sky conditions. In fact, places which will receive rainfall are expected to see much fall in temperature, particularly Punjab and Haryana.
