Rain over Northwest India has become a common affair, particularly in the states of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in the month of February. Hailstorm activity accompanied with strong winds has also been common sighting for the states resulting in crop damage over many areas.
Minimum temperatures have seen a significant drop settling between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius, some parts have even seen minimum at a mere 5 degrees.
The weather over all the three states has remained dry and will remain the same today as well. However, rainfall is all set to make an appearance over the state by tomorrow.
A Western Disturbance will approach the Western Himalayan region by today evening. The system will also induce a Cyclonic Circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining Rajasthan.
Due to this system, rainfall activity is expected to make an appearance by the afternoon or evening hours of tomorrow, i.e., March 2. Rains will first cover North Punjab as well as Rajasthan. Thereafter, other areas of Punjab, Rajasthan along with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh will begin to see rainfall activity. Isolated hailstorm is also expected along with lightning strikes and strong winds.
Rains over western parts of Uttar Pradesh will be scattered in nature and widespread showers may not be seen. Clearance in the weather is likely by March 4 as the system will be a fast moving one. Thus, for the next two days, minimums will see an increase and maximums may fall.
