Rajasthan was observing very warm and dry weather since past many days. So much so that the mercury has been shooting a few notches above the normal and settling near 35°C in most districts. However, during the last 24 hours, rain gods have given good rains accompanied by strong winds and hailstorm.
Rajasthan, the desert state is prone to dust storms. During last 24 hours, many places of the state have reported fairly widespread dust storm and thunderstorms. Few places also witnessed hail activity. In addition, squally winds have damaged many buildings of the state.
In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Jodhpur recorded 23 mm of rainfall, Bundi 15 mm, Bhilwara 11.4 mm, Ajmer 11.2 mm, Tonk 8 mm and Jaiselmer 6 mm.
As per Skymet Weather, these prevailing weather conditions can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation over central parts of Rajasthan. A trough is also extending from South Haryana to Gujarat.
Weathermen predict isolated rain and thunderstorms during evening hours today, particularly over east and southeastern parts of Rajasthan. Squally winds with hailstorms cannot be ruled out at few places.
Thereafter, temperatures will scale up gradually over western parts of the state on account of an anti-cyclonic circulation developing over southern parts of Gujarat. This will bring dry and warm winds over the region.
