Rain greets Delhi with highest morning temperature in 10 years

February 20, 2016 1:00 PM |

Showers in DelhiDelhi woke up to another pleasant morning on Saturday accompanied with light drizzle even though the city recorded the highest morning temperature in last 10 years.

Minimum temperatures today morning settled at whopping 20°C, nine notches above normal. Earlier on Friday, national capital had recorded warmest day of the month with 29.8°C.

According to Skymet Weather, sky will remain partly cloudy to cloudy throughout the day with spell of on and off light showers till late afternoon.

Though these showers will curtail the day maximum temperature from rising too far, but increased levels of humidity will not let the minimum temperatures drop much.

Change in weather conditions can be attributed to the prevailing Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and its induced cyclonic circulation over Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh.

After 24 hours, both maximum and minimum temperatures will witness a gradual drop due to the return of cold and dry northwesterly winds over the region.

In span of next 2-3 days, day and night temperatures are likely to crawl back to their normal average temperatures which at present are above by five degrees and nine degrees, respectively.
