West Bengal and Odisha have been witnessing good amount of unseasonal rains every since the beginning of January. Last 24 hours have been same as, rains continued to lash the neighbouring states. In fact, some parts of Gangetic West Bengal such as Diamond Harbour and 24- South Parganas have witnessed an intense spell of rain and thundershowers.
At present, a feeble trough is persisting from West Bengal to South Odisha. In the wake of this system, light rain may continue today in West Bengal and Odisha as well. However, we do not expect much rainfall activities in the interior parts of Odisha.
With the ample of moisture present in the atmosphere, the minimums will continue to be above normal in Coastal Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. Thereafter, from January 31, as the rains will subside, the minimums will fall further by 2-4 degrees Celsius.
According to Skymet Weather, this is going to be the last spell of rain of January month and the weather would now remain dry in both the states for at least the next four to five days. Also, weathermen do not expect the winter chill to make a comeback.
